SSL certificates so your site loads with the padlock
Without SSL, browsers mark your site as “Not secure.” All our hosting plans include it for free and, if you need to cover subdomains, we offer SSL Wildcard.

What an SSL certificate is
An SSL certificate encrypts the information traveling between your site and your visitors, and it's what makes the address start with https and show the padlock. Without it, Chrome, Safari and other browsers display a warning that scares off any customer.
If your certificate has already expired, read what to do about an expired SSL.
Free SSL or Wildcard: which one you need
The free SSL (Let's Encrypt) is included in all hosting plans, activates on its own and renews automatically. It covers one domain and is enough for most sites.
The SSL Wildcard protects your domain and all its subdomains (store.yourdomain.com, clients.yourdomain.com, etc.) with a single certificate, and includes a security seal.
Frequently asked questions
Is the free SSL just as secure?
Yes, the encryption is the same. The difference with Wildcard is that it covers all subdomains with a single certificate and includes a security seal.
Do I have to renew the SSL every year?
The SSL included with hosting renews automatically. The SSL Wildcard renews annually.
What happens if my certificate expires?
Browsers show a not-secure warning and many visitors leave. With the automatic renewal that comes with hosting, this shouldn't happen.
